The Humanscale Freedom Chair redefines the notion of conventional task chairs. Designer Niels Diffrient intended to develop an office chair that adapts to the user automatically, enabling them to move from posture to posture freely. For a genuinely ergonomic job chair, Diffrient’s unique solution eliminated complications found in other seats, such as awkward recline levers and back tension dials. As a result, he built a recline mechanism that adapts to the consumer perfectly, certainly reinventing modern task seating to be very simple, practical and beautiful.
